Testing Hardware

Firstly, we gathered all the equipment we thought we would need for the first prototype and wired it up without a chassis. The equipment we used is as follows:

  • Raspberry Pi 4

  • L298N H-Bridge Motor Controller

  • Jumper Wires

  • Generic Yellow Hobby Motors

Our Setup

After setting up our equipment we checked it all worked by using GPIO Zero and running the motors forward at full speed. The code we used is below:

from gpiozero import Motor
import time
leftMotor = Motor(14, 15)
rightMotor = Motor(18, 23)
leftMotor.forward(1)
rightMotor.forward(1)
time.sleep(10)
leftMotor.stop()
rightMotor.stop()
